Choosing keywords that will work better for your website

Choosing good keywords for your websites is a skill that all online marketers need to master. Writing up webpages without paying attention to the keywords you are using will hamper the success of your website. Another factor that you must take account of is the type of website you have and what you want people to do when they find it.

There will be different motives for someone who is searching for a videos on gardening and someone else who wants the latest Coldplay track to download. One website will have information while the other has a specific product for download. Now if the information website has the relevant information on video then you may be able to sell the information but you have to catch people who are looking for your information.

This is what you use keywords for. Choosing good keywords helps you to target what people are searching for. There are 2 ways to choose keywords. You can subscribe to keyword discovery or any of the other paid research keyword websites. In a matter of minutes you will have a good set of valuable keywords for your website. The second way id to use the google external keyword tool with search count to work out the good keywords. This method will take you a lot longer but it is free.

Finding good keywords means that you must find phrases that have high search numbers with low website competition. For very small niches this will be quite easy. For big niches such as diet or credit cards will be much more of a challenge to find good keywords. My minimum statistics for a good keyword is searches of above 500 searches a month and less than 25,000 websites competing for the phrase. Using these good keywords in your webpages will make them more search engine friendly and give you more traffic.
